What is dry ice blasting, and why does it work better than pressure washing?
Dry ice blasting uses compressed air to accelerate frozen CO2 pellets at high velocity. When those pellets hit a surface, two things happen simultaneously: the thermal shock fractures the bond between the contaminant and the surface, and the pellets instantly sublimate — converting from solid directly to gas. There's no water left behind, no chemical residue, and no secondary waste to clean up.
For undercarriage work, this matters for a few reasons. Pressure washing forces water into areas that don't dry properly, accelerating the exact rust and corrosion you're trying to prevent. Dry ice blasting removes the contamination without introducing moisture. Your wheel wells, frame rails, suspension components, and fuel and brake lines get genuinely clean — not just rinsed.
